Skinny Sunnies and Faces for Your...Face?

Skinny Sunnies and Faces for Your...Face?

We all know that trends are cyclical, cycling even faster with time (e.g. how are barrettes I wore as a kid already vintage?), but does that mean we actually want to get on board with them? And if we do, how?

The skinny sunnies are tres 90’s chic with a touch of Men in Black, while the earrings in the female likeness are mostly inspired by the works of Picasso and Matisse. One with strong sleek lines, the other scrolling and dainty, but both combined achieve a masculine meets feminine vibe that we are loving. At least until it’s absolutely taboo and we’re back to wearing those Willy Wonka goggles once more…c’est la vie.

Sometimes the more dramatic approach leaves us unsure how attainable it actually is to replicate, but strategic incorporation can both satisfy our desire to feel “on trend,” as well as aid in the maintaining of our own personal style.

Listed below are some basic guidelines we use to help us integrate a style we are as intrigued by as we are unsure of.

  • A clean middle or side part, with the rest of your hair slicked back into a bun or ponytail, creates a sleek canvas to adorn with your new experiments. I also find that a side part can look better on a more rounded face while a middle part balances a longer, thinner bone structure. But once again, there aren’t rules, so part as you please, please.

  • A monochromatic outfit is not only on trend currently, but also adds a chic feel, and gives your accessories room to be the “pop” instead of a billion patterns.

  • Lipstick lipstick lipstick. Look, I’m not really sure why, but something about a bold red or pink lip ties the whole thing together. It could be that it balances your attention on all points of the face, or because I’m ADD and bright things really distract me in the best way. Regardless, it’s fun and worth a try.

  • OWN IT. Pretend you’re a stylish, undercover spy or something. I don’t know. Get creative. If you are confident in your style choices, however quirky, you’ll feel as good as you look, and it really doesn’t matter what anyone has to say about it.

We have both of these fun trends in all three of our shops, so come play around and give them a go.
